Space Invaders is an arcade game first released in 1978 by Taito. It is considered one of the most significant games of the shooter genre and one of the most influntial games of any genre. Commercially successful from its original release, Space Invaders has since been ported to numerous platforms and appeared in various other forms of media, including movies and books.
