Originally released as a video game for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996, Pokémon has gone on to become a household name around the world. The franchise has expanded into various genres over the years, including movies, animated TV series' and a trading card game. In 2016, a mobile game titled Pokémon Go was released and has since been downloaded over 1 billion times worldwide.
